Hi, I'm Nicola Ahern, author of the Big Feelings Are OK series and founder of MindMosaic Kids.
As both a neurodivergent parent and someone who is neurodivergent myself, I know that everyday moments can sometimes feel much bigger than they appear. Things like leaving the park, switching off a tablet, unexpected changes, loud environments, or making mistakes can quickly become overwhelming for a child and for the adults supporting them.
I'm currently studying Psychology and have completed professional training in Child Psychology, combining evidence-based psychological principles with real-life parenting experience. Every story I write is designed to help children understand their emotions, build confidence, and learn practical coping strategies in a way that feels safe, gentle, and engaging.
My hope is simple: to help families replace stressful moments with calmer, more connected ones, one story at a time.
Alongside my children's books, I also write psychology and personal development books for adults, all centred around understanding the mind, building resilience, and creating positive change.
Thank you for being here. I hope these stories become a comforting part of your family's journey.
Because every child deserves to know that big feelings are okay.
